Division Description
Newman Signs Inc. - The Urban Division of Newman Signs functions primarily as a subcontractor on road, bridge and
infrastructure construction projects throughout North Dakota and parts of South Dakota. Newman Signs furnishes and
installs the following types of bid items: Traffic control signs and devices, Permanent signage and overhead sign
structures, guard rail and crash attenuation devices, as well as right of way fence and marker systems. Our projects
range in value from $1,500 on up to $1,000,000+.
Job Description
This is a fast paced, rapidly changing, deadline driven position that requires a high level of enthusiasm,
organization and communication. This is an excellent opportunity for a career seeking applicant. This position is
full time and includes a benefits package. Applicants MUST have three years experience in construction project
management. This is not an entry level position. Applicant must be willing to work with the road crews initially
to learn the business and also as required to oversee projects.
Job Responsibilities
Estimating, including material quantity take-offs and soliciting supplier quotes
Production and distribution of quotes to prime contractors
Contract negotiation and administration
Daily communication with project engineers, field personnel, prime contractor personnel and Newman Signs upper management.
Creating and maintaining crew work schedules
Administration of change orders, submittals, written correspondence, punch lists and project finalization documentation
Attend pre-construction conferences held by prime contractors
Daily troubleshooting
Minor travel required (3-6 days per month on average)
Tracking of all project progressive estimates and payments
Daily and weekly project status reporting to upper management
Coordination of Urban Division crews involved in projects for other divisions of Newman Signs Inc
Assist in gathering accurate financial project cost information for the purpose of producing accurate per unit costs
Oversee the production of shop drawings for fabricated goods
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Management
Required Skills and Experience
Proactive team leader and management of all crew members
Must be able to multi-task, organize and follow up on all details
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to read and understand highway construction plans and specifications
Excellent public relations. Position involves attending AGC meetings and conferences
Specific knowledge of the road, bridge and infrastructure construction industry
Computer skills are an absolute MUST! (Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook, Internet Explorer, estimating software & CAD systems)
Applicant must have a minimum of three years experience as a Construction Project Manager or Assistant Project Manager in commercial construction
Construction Management degree preferred
Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required
